Ranger Design is looking for a dynamic and experienced Payroll and HRM Specialist to join our growing Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the entire Canadian & US payroll cycle. In addition, this candidate will be an expert in the Ultimate Software UltiPro HRM system and will serve as a key member within the Human Resources organization. The candidate will lead the ongoing support and maintenance of UltiPro and provides expertise to support other HR-related systems.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the Human Resources Manager’s supervision, you will be responsible for the following:
- Act as a resource person for all payroll transactions for all payroll groups.
- Perform year-end preparation and production of T4 and Relevé 1 slips and US equivalent forms.
- Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll and other financial documents.
- Reviews, calculates, and processes payroll changes and adjustments.
- Review and reconciles payroll records for accuracy.
- Prepares and executes state and federal payroll taxes.
- Assists employees in payroll deductions and withholdings.
- Coordinates the workflow and procedures between Payroll and other departments.
- Assists Human Resources with payroll related questions and issues.
- Monitors bank activity for direct deposit returns.
- Verification of government remittances, making and preparing any other remittances
- Balances and prepares payroll tax returns.
- Other duties as assigned.
HRM Superuser
You will also be our UltiPro (UKG) super user. This entails but is not limited to the following:
- Serve as the Ultimate Software UltiPro HRM application system administrator (i.e. maintain system configuration, coordinate system upgrades).
- Serve as a super-user for HRM for data entry, updates, and troubleshooting.
- Set-up, modify and maintain Security (including but not limited to adding, changing, and deleting, user ID’s, passwords, role-based permissions, etc.).
- Create custom reports and dashboards and serve as the point of contact for ad hoc report and BI requests.
- Create, maintain, and monitor accurate workflows and forms within the system.
- Actively participate in the analysis and implementation of solutions related to data integrity and consistency.
- Addresses and resolves system issues, working with the system vendor, regarding all employment actions, system configurations and payroll-related problems.
- Provides outstanding customer service to employees, offering support, communication, and training in HRM systems, processes, and programs.
- Accurately completes employee enrollments, terminations, and changes on time, and works with the payroll team in reconciling any insurance billing issues and corrections.
- Supports other areas of the human resources department as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
- Bilingual (Oral and written) – Asset
- Excellent analytical, quantitative reasoning, problem solving, creativity and strategic skills.
- Outstanding communication skills and business acumen.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Effective interaction and teamwork with other departments is essential.

- 5 years’ experience with an HRM system
- Experience with UKG – UltiPro and Dimensions (Kronos) – strong asset
- Experience in Project Management and Systems Implementation
- Attention to detail, thoroughness.
- Capacity to deal with highly confidential information.
