A large utilities customer came to Ranger Design for help designing a light-weight, yet high quality upfit that would provide for all of the extensive needs during their technician’s busy days.
THE CUSTOMER’S MAIN CHALLENGE
Downsizing from a box truck to a Ford Transit. Our customer’s main challenge was finding a way to downsize from a box truck to a Ford Transit while still managing to carry all the necessary parts for the job. We rode along with the technicians for a day, to analyze which tools were reached for the most and to determine which ones we could eliminate or reconfigure into a more space saving format.
Sourcing a high quality upfit yet light-weight upfit. Due to the large amount of storage space needed to carry the necessary tools and equipment, it was also a challenge to ensure that the new upfit, did not exceed the van’s maximum weight limit of 10,000 lbs.
