At Ranger Design, KPI’s measure whether corporate or production goals have been reached. The Production Manager needs to have a grasp of the overarching corporate goals as well as the specific production goals that must be met. Short term production planning must support the long term strategy. Quick production decisions often need to be made based on schedule requirements. Proactive communication and working collaboratively with the Supply Chain Department will ensure that inventory shortages are avoided or kept to a minimum.
The Production Manager reports to the Director of Operations. In addition to regularly scheduled meetings, daily, weekly and monthly reports communicate vital KPI information.
Using your knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles, you will be accountable to create a production flow that is efficient, profitable and accurate. Involved in this is:
- Monitoring the production processes and people, and then modifying as necessary.
- Understanding how to recognize waste in its many forms and adjusting the process and work flow to eliminate the waste.
- Understanding the production methods required to maximize profit.
- Creating procedures that will ensure the highest quality standards are maintained.
- Prioritizing 5S standards and inspiring the production associates to embrace this methodology.
The ideal Production Manager will model high standards and command respect from his reports, while building comradery within the team. He or she will be forceful in insisting on the established standards, behavior and directions while encouraging and coaching the team to excel.
